KSOU Admission 2025-26: The University provides Open and distance learning mode(ODL) and has recently started online learning programs as well. It has a total of 420 courses comprising UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and Phd, such as BA, B.com, BBA, BCA, MA, MBA, MSW, and more. The Admission at KSOU is done in 2 sessions: First in January and then the Second in June/July. For the January admission session, the application started from 10th February 2025 and the last date to submit the form was 30th April 2025*, while the renewal application form for 2024-25 has been extended till 15th April 2025.
About University: Karnataka State Open University, also known as KSOU, is a state public university in Mysore, Karnataka. It was established on 1st June, 1996 under the KSOU Act – 1992 with the assent of the Governor of Karnataka. The University is recognised by the University Grant Commission and DEC, along with many recognised boards such as CIQA, NIRF, and is a member of AIU. It is also accredited with an A+ by NAAC. KSOU Admission 2025-26
The KSOU provides a wide range of programmes such as UG (BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, BCA, BSW, BEd), PG (MA, MCom, MBA, MSc, MSW, and MCA), Diploma, certificate and doctoral degrees in fields of arts, commerce, management, science, biotechnology, and more. KSOU UG Admission 2025-26
The admission for various UG courses at KSOU has started from January onwards and the last date to apply for UG admission is 30th April 2025. Some of the famous UG courses provided by KSOU are BCA, BBA, BPT, BA, BLibisc, and BCom. These courses are of 3 years generally divided into 6 semesters. (some courses can be of 4 years as well which include BISF period).
The UG admission is merit based on the last qualifying exam, along with this candidate should have passed minimum 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks for general and 45% marks for ST/SC and OBC from a recognized institution(CBSE/ICSE and state board). The average fee structure of UG programmes at KSOU is between INR 8,000 to INR 20,000 per year.
KSOU PG Admission 2025-26
The admission for PG courses such as MA, MBA, MCA, M.com and more are ongoing. Candidates willing to take admission need to visit the official website of KSOU and fill the application form before 30th April 2025 to secure admission. The Master’s program at KSOU is of 2 years duration, which is further divided into 4 semesters. Candidates should have a bachelor degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for general and 45% marks for other categories (ST/SC/OBS). The average fee structure for PG course at KSOU is between INR 10,000 to INR 35,000.
KSOU Doctoral (PhD) Admission 2025-26
KSOU also provides Ph.d programmes in different specialisations such as Arts, Commerce, Economics, History, Management, food and nutrition, Journalism and Mass Communication, and more. The duration of P.hd is between 3 to 5 years divided into multiple semesters, depending on the course.
To be eligible for admission into P.hd programs, candidates should appear and pass the CET entrance exam and then interview. Along with it, one should have a masters degree with a minimum of 55% marks for general and 50% for others in a relevant subject and field. The average fee structure for the P.hd program is 45,000 annually. Note that, though KSOU provides distance education, the P.hd programme in KSOU is only regular based and can’t be done in online or distance mode.
